Travel information


Travel to Belgrade:

Belgrade Airport "Nikola Tesla" is located some 20 km from the City of Belgrade. There is a shuttle bus service from/to airport to/from the city Terminal in front of the Hotel "Slavija", and a regular bus line 72 to/from the city center (Zeleni venac). Taxis and international car rental services are available at the airport, as well as in the city. There is a regular rail and bus service from major European cities to Belgrade. You can also come to Belgrade by car using highways E70 and E75.

Visa requirements:

For the citizens of most European countries, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and most of South America countries an entry visa is not required. In some cases an invitation letter might be necessary; it can be sent, upon request, by LOC. Citizens of other countries are advised to contact the nearest Serbian consular Office in their countries for information about visa requirements. You can also check the Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs website. A valid passport is required in all cases!

Accommodation:

All travel plans and accommodation arrangements are the responsibility of the participants. Belgrade has many reasonably priced hotels nearby the venue. The following gives a list of three hotels in the area, but it is by no means an exhaustive list.

1. Hotel Palace (prices start at about 40 EUR/night)
2. Hotel Majestic (prices start at about 55 EUR/night)
3. Belgrade Art Hotel (prices start at about 85 EUR/night)

Language:

Serbian is the official language, while both Cyrillic and Latin alphabets are in use. English is spoken by many people, and especially by the members of staff in hotels, tourist offices and airport.

Money:

Serbian currency is the dinar. Circulating money includes banknotes in denomination of 5000, 2000, 1000, 500, 200, 100, 50, 20 and 10 dinars, and coins in denomination of 20, 10, 5, 2 and 1 dinar. Currently, the rate of exchange lingers around 122 dinars per euro (99 dinars per US dollar; 155 dinars per pound sterling - check the latest National Bank of Serbia's official exchange rates). Participants may exchange their convertible currencies for dinars in all hotels, banks, exchange offices, travel agencies and airport. The rates are very similar across different exchange offices. Major international credit cards such as Visa, Master Card, American Express and Diners Club are generally accepted by hotels, airlines, travel agencies, restaurants and many department stores and shops.

In February, Central European Winter time is in use, meaning GMT +1.
