Unfortunately, unlike for chess, there is only one rating for Suicide on
the FICS, regardless of time control. Obviously, many players show very
different performance when playing with 'lightning' or 'blitz' time controls,
and when they play slower games. That makes the ratings much less informative.
So far, the admins have been deaf to our requests to divide the ratings.
If you also feel this has to be done - please message 'amn' (on FICS),
who is going to present the list of supporters to the admins. (Also, if
you prefer slower games, join the unofficial slow Suicide channel - 111!)
Even worse this affects computer ratings.
The ratings of most programs are primarily achieved in very fast games
(3min/game and less), where, as is well known, computers are incomparably
superior to humans. Already with 15-20min/game, top humans perform just
a bit worse than top programs, and I daresay it is to expect that no program
yet could compete well with best players under tournament (e.g. 2h/game)
time controls. While it is even easier than in chess to make the program
tactically strong, the programmers are confronted with extreme difficulties
in strategic evaluation, primarily because of highly game phase-
and position- dependent piece values, and general 'non-materialistic'
character of Losing Chess.
