The Oldest Document
Kotor, December 20th 1309.
The oldest document of the Historical archives Kotor dated 20th December 1309. was written by sworn notary public lad of the town of Kotor Petar Vitin: "... et ego Petrus Viti, comunis Catari iuratus notarius ...". He also appears as notary public lad in the first preserved volume of notary acts from the year 1326. The document is extremely damaged, but according to the parts of texts that are readable it can clearly be said that it is a kind of buyer-seller contract. The document is written in Latin gothic.

The Oldest cyrillic document
Župa Grbaljska, November 11th 1539.
In the oldest cyrillic written document of the Historical archives Kotor written on 11th November 1539 Mihna Novaković from Župa Grbaljska is selling one half of the property to her sister Pribislava and her children, and she is leaving the second half of the property to her nephew.
